My 7-month-old cat leaves small poop around house, still uses litter?

Another possibility is that he is dragging his bum due to anal gland discomfort. If his stools are appearing softer in the litter box, the underlying cause could be from a recent diet change, bacterial infection, parasites, or food allergies. The best first step is to visit the veterinarian, who can test a stool sample for parasites, and suggest the best diet option. Often a diet for sensitive stomachs is the first recommendation. Fecal incontinence can be due to a neurologic problem or a problem with the colon or rectum. Sometimes cats with diarrhea can also show mild fecal incontinence. Your veterinarian can check his reflexes and and anal tone to see if he is showing signs of neurologic disease. Other possibilities include trauma (possibly before you got him), diseases like megacolon, or a rectal stricture. Your veterinarian might recommend a taking a stool sample, taking some spinal x-rays, or sedating Gizmo for a digital rectal exam. I would guess that the worms are tapeworm segments and are unrelated to the cause of his fecal incontinence unless you have seen him scooting.

Thats seem like an odd presentation for a one year old cat like Leia. I would first make sure she is not dragging the stool out of the letterbox (on her fur) somehow and thats what you are finding. If thats not the case then I think about either a medical issue such as a nerve disorder (which is uncommon) or a behavioral issue (purposefully not using the litter box). To know which one, you would have to actually see Leia do it. It the fecal material is truly coming out and she is not aware of it, then I think a trip to the neurologist is needed as this is not normal. The neurologist may be able to determine the cause of the nerve disorder and may be able to recommend treatment (if one is available but thats not a guarantee). Best o luck with little Leia!

Sometimes when cats are relaxed, they can drop little balls of feces out that are in their rectum. It does happen, and given that Mochi has been checked out by a vet and they found nothing wrong with him, that would be my suspicion.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Milo! Is Milo's stool normal? or is he having diarrhea? If his stool is normal he needs to be litter box trained. Confine him to a room with a litter box, food and water. He stays in this room until he uses the litter box to defecate at least for 1 week then let him out. But keep the litter box in that room so he knows where it is. Over time gradually move the litter box to where you want it to be. You can also use litter attractants. If Milo is having diarrhea causes can be: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, food allergy/intolerance, dietary indiscretion, toxin ingestion. I would schedule a Vet appointment for Monday if he has diarrhea to start medications. Bring a stool sample. I hope this helps and I wish Milo the best!

It could be that Ziggy has some fecal matter that sticks to the hair around his anus after he defecates that later falls off - this can sometimes happen in overweight cats (I'm guessing Ziggy might be overweight if he is an 18 lb American Shorthair). Fecal incontinence can sometimes also occur secondary to neurologic problems. Constipation could be another issue - sometimes a constipated cat will pass small amounts of stool but is unable to completely empty the colon. I would recommend having your vet examined Ziggy to rule out incontinence or constipation issues.

If your foster kitten has some abnormality (such as dwarfism) that is affecting his bones, it can also affect the spine, so it can cause problems with normal defecation. I would recommend having a veterinarian perform an examination (including a neurological examination) to determine if there are any abnormalities.
