My cat with kidney disease is peeing blood, has fever & clots.

This does indicate kidney disease but not necessarily permanent. Cystitis can cause improper emptying of the bladder. If the bladder gets backed up, it affects the kidneys and can spread the infection there. Clearing the infection and getting the bladder emptying properly can resolve those values. You can switch him to a kidney diet and make sure he gets plenty of water. I would recheck the blood work in 1-2 weeks and see how the numbers compare. If they are worse, then you likely have kidney disease and he may benefit from IV or SQ fluids. If they improve, then it may have been a result of the cystitis and medicines

Hi, I don’t think it is possible to diagnose a disease from these blood tests and without any clinical history or symptoms and a physical examination. It does seem like Russia has anaemia and increased white blood cells on her haematology blood tests, her biochemistry shows mild azotaemia with an increase in both urea and creatinine. This could indicate kidney disease. Has Russia had any urine test ? I would run a urine test,sg dipstick, protein creatinine ratio and start intravenous fluids. More tests are available to evaluate renal functions but I am not sure if these can be done in Egypt. Hope this helps.

It could be a UTI, which would need antibiotics. Other possible causes include urinary bladder stones or congenital changes with the bladder or urethra. Since I am not sure exactly what is going on, I can't really tell you what to do. If you have access to antibiotics, you can try that, but we can't prescribe them online as it is illegal for us to do so.

Hello. I am so sorry for your concerns about Anakin. Peeing out of the box is a frustrating problem, but if it is accompanied by a potential urinary tract infection, this makes things very uncomfortable for your cat. If you can encourage him to drink more fluids, either by offering wet cat food or tuna water ( lower sodium if you can find this ) will help dilute the urine making the process more comfortable for him. I would also see if you can obtain a concentrated cranberry supplement for him at your local pet retailer. We use Cranberry RX here & you might be able to order this online. Poor Panbeh! It sounds like he has a bad urinary tract infection. This is very painful-like peeing razor blades. He could also have bladder stones or a urethral blockage. I recommend getting him to a vet ASAP to check his urine and get a radiograph of his bladder for stones. They can then start him on antibiotics and pain medications. Good luck and kisses to Panbeh!

If so, it can spread to the kidneys causing damage resulting in an elevated SDMA. She will also need x-rays of her abdomen to check for bladder stones. If these tests are negative, idiopathic cystitis is common in cats. It is inflammation in the bladder that can lead to blood in the urine. If her veterinarian is concerned with kidney disease, then her blood pressure should be measured. Diet recommendations will be based on her final diagnosis. I hope this information helps!

Causes of inappropriate urination with blood are: urinary tract infection, stress cystitis, crystals in the urine, bladder stone, or a bladder tumor. It is likely that Nina has a bacterial UTI but there are many other causes for her issues. With her history of kidney issues she should be examined and a urine sample should be tested before starting her on antibiotics. Using antibiotics inappropriately builds resistance. I recommend taking her to the Vet and trying to not let her urinate for several hours (lock her in a room with out a box) or collect a urine sample to bring with you. If she does have a UTI your Vet can appropriately dose the Clavaseptin and tell you how long based on her specific infection. I wish Nina a speedy recovery!
