Hello there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. From there description, Bugs may be dealing with a skin infection Or insect bite hypersensitivity. Mosquitoes and fleas can cause bad allergic reactions after biting a cat. Your vet may prescribe antibiotics and / or flea medication. I would get her examined by your vet to determine what the primary cause is so she can receive the most appropriate treatment. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think this is likely an unrelated issue and it does not have to do with the tail incident. I think this is likely a skin infection. This may be due to an underlying allergy. I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatments. At the very least, they would be able to start antibiotics for her. Good luck and have a good night!

The bump shown in the picture resembles the appearance of a benign skin tag or papilloma. These can occasionally become secondarily infected and cause the pet to become itchy at that spot. It is possible that Neema is experiencing an allergy to either something in her environment (pollen, dust mite, grass, etc.) or to an ectoparasite (fleas, mites). The response that you get when you touch her near her tail (begins to lick her fur) sounds like an itch response. Make sure Neema is on an appropriate flea preventative, and if the itching or losing hair continues she may need to be seen by her veterinarian for additional treatment to decrease her itchiness.

I really think you need to take Lady Bird to the vet for an exam. This skin infection looks pretty serious and she will most likely need antibiotics to clear it. Without having more history and examining her myself it is difficult to say what is actually causing this issue. There are many different skin conditions and unfortunately, many can look the same which is why a vet exam is really important.

The infectious component would have to be taken care of but it is crucial to take care of the possible allergy as well so this does not continue to happen. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

Smores seems like the area is bothering her. Many things can cause these bumps including allergies, external parasites or ringworm (which people can get). Make an appointment with her doctor to get her checked out. There are medications the doctor can give her to stop the itching as well as treat the underlying cause. If you have an elizabethan collar for her, go ahead and put it on her. The licking can make the lesions worse. Make sure that you are also using a reputable flea product. I recommend Revolution or Comfortis.

Skin lesions like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), an infection (bacterial or fungal), allergies, or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, so he could start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, parasiticide) that he may need. In the meantime, I would clean the area will diluted betadine if possible and then keep it dry, and trim his nails back as much as possible to keep him from scratching at it. Good luck!

My cat has itchy skin bumps that aren't going away. What's wrong?

Cats get a variety of skin cancers, and also can get raised bumps as part of allergies. It could be related to Jelly's itchiness. I don't think this is an emergency, but I would recommend getting him to a veterinarian early next week for a check up to determine if this a mass that needs sampled, or a allergic flare up that can be treated to get Jelly more comfortable. Poor Scooby! No, it's not normal to have itchy white bumps on his body. There are a number of things that could cause a skin issue like this, including allergies, fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend having Scooby examined by a vet when you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate medication to treat it.

Jasper could have allergic skin disease, which is very itchy, or a bacterial or fungal infection. Your vet may want to do a skin scraping or fungal culture to figure out what is causing the bump and how to treat it. She may need allergy medication like apoquel or steroids, or antibiotics. My 8-month-old cat is scratching and has red bumps. What's wrong?

Congrats on your new cat, but I'm sorry Puma isn't doing well! This scratching can be caused by fleas, mites, ringworm, or allergies. If she isn't up to date on her flea treatment, she will need a spot on treatment such as Advantage or Revolution. You will need to disinfect the environment as well. If she is up to date on her flea treatment, I recommend taking her into the vet for an exam tomorrow. The vet can do blood tests, skin scrapings, and use a Wood's lamp to diagnose allergies, mites, and ringworm. Once the cause of the itching is found, the vet can prescribe the appropriate treatment.
