My cat is hyperactive. Are B-12 or Denamarin medications to blame?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | spayed | 10 years and 8 months old | 10.5 lbs

My 11 yr/o Russian Blue is given B-12 inj. (.025ml) q mo. She also gets one Denamarin that contains SAMe qd. Would either one... or both contribute to hyper activity? She has Cholangeohepitis. I'd like to see her at 11.5#s., but with her heightened activity level since introducing these meds., even with abundandent food intake, I just can't get her there. The combination has kept her liver enzymes in normal range for 5 years. No plans per her Vet. & Internist to change med regimine

Hello. Other than making Gayle feel beter, & therefore more active, there is no indication that any of these medications will cause any hyper activity. Has your veterinarian done any recent bloodwork? I would really like to make sure her thyroid values are normal. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
