My cat was hit by a car, swollen face & broken leg. What now?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 17 lbs

Cat was hit by a car. Face looks like it's shifted, or the upper left lip is swelled severely. Cats back left leg is broken also.

Patches should be seen by a vet immediately. I am very concerned about the swelling in her face and the amount of discharge around her nose and mouth. This is especially the case if you are certain her back leg is broken. She is in severe pain and probably in shock, which can lead to death after trauma like getting hit by a car. Unfortunately there are no human OTC pain medications that you can give her that are safe.
