Why is my cat hiding and not eating after trying to cough up a furball?

Sometimes a cat will hide in an unusual location simply because they are not feeling well. He may feel that getting wet is worth it if he feels safer in the bathroom. Given that he has been sick for a few days and he is not eating, I would recommend that you have him seen by a veterinarian. Cats that don't eat for even more than a few days can become quite ill very quickly. In the meantime, I would try to keep him as dry as possible. Perhaps provide a box or bed in the bathroom to see if he would use it rather than the area that he is getting wet in

Stress and anxiety can caus them to hide and be scared. She may not be comfortable with your boyfriend. However they also hide when they don’t feel well, which would be my concern since she vomited. She does need to see a vet to see which is the problem but you can help by controlling her environment and limiting stress so she feels safe enough to come out more

Poor Simba! There are many things that can cause cats to stop eating, so I wouldn't necessarily assume this is due to a hairball. Simba could have a GI problem like pancreatitis or an intestinal obstruction, a systemic illness such as liver or kidney disease, or may have ingested something toxic. If he hasn't been eating since Tuesday, this is very concerning and warrants an immediate vet visit. If your regular veterinarian isn't open, then I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic today to be seen. The veterinarian there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what kind of treatment is needed.

Any cat that is hiding and not eating is sick. She needs to see a vet ASAP. When cats don't eat for about 3 days their liver starts to mobilize fats for energy and this causes fatty liver disease. So, she may get fatty liver disease on top of already having another illness which will make her prognosis even worse. Please get her to a vet ASAP.

If Major had not been urinating or had been in and out of the litter box a lot then it’s possible he could have a urinating blockage which is an emergency. If he is urinating normally but not eating I would still recommend a vet visit tomorrow. Hiding is something cats do when sick. There are any number of things that could have an older cat not feeling well including dental disease, renal disease or other organ dysfunction. I hope Major is better soon. I highly recommend bringing Kittyboy to the veterinarian for a workup of blood work at least. My concern with this is that there is something more going on whether systemic or even a foreign body. I don't like the fact that Snoopy is hiding and being dull. I would recommend bringing him out of his hiding spot and taking him to a veterinarian. He symptoms are so vague that it could indicate multiple different things going on with him.
