My cat fought, now hiding, hissing, and lethargic. Is he hurt?

He may have not escaped uninjured. It is possible he was bitten and is developing and infection or abscess. Cat bites can be difficult to spot. Ideally, he should be physically examined by your veterinarian. He may need antibiotics and pain medications.

However, it would be best to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to examine him to see if he appears to be painful for example which could be a reason to become lethargic and less interactive. He could also be somewhat traumatized by that encounter which he could potentially eventually get over. However, I still think that he should be evaluated. Good luck and have a good night! Poor baby. It sounds to me like he needs additional medical attention. His pain control may not be adequate for his injuries, or he could be developing an infection. I would recommend taking him to an emergency vet clinic tonight to be assessed and his treatment adjusted.

This is very likely the result of the cat fight he had few days ago. The lesion look like a burst abscess or a bite wound. It is quite deep and is affecting Leo systemically (not eating well, lethargic). I recommend a visit to your local vet; Leo possibly need some antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medication. I would give her a few hours to see if she'll eventually come out on her own to inspect her for injuries. You can try enticing her out with cat food or even some chicken warmed up so it's really smelly, and then inspect her as she's focused on eating. If she won't come out/eat at all, seems severely injured or in distress, or you suspect wounds, it is best to seek veterinary care ASAP especially since wild animals can transmit diseases.

If he does, even if you can't find one right now I would be concerned that he suffered a bite of some kind, as cats can develop abscesses fairly easily when they suffer a trauma. I would be concerned by his behavior, as it does sound like there may be an underlying issue going on, such as an infection, GI upset, or an underlying medical issue (such as kidney disease or diabetes). If he doesn't perk up, start eating and getting some energy back, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his change in behavior, have any necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork) and start any treatment he may need to resolve it. Frost may be shaken from the scuffle. I'd leave her be for now, it's not too serious she hasn't eaten in a few hours. She may be painful, so if she is still acting this way in the morning, have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.
