My cat has a head tilt, wobbles, and keeps falling over. What's wrong?

Head tilt could be caused by deep inner ear infection (or polyp), stroke, infection such as toxoplasmosis, stroke, or even tumor although that would be rare at her age. If the toxo test comes back normal then I would consider requesting a referral to a neurologist where an MRI of the brain can be done. If that is not possible then I would trial treat with antibiotics and steroids. I am so sorry that she is going through this. I am sure you are very worried. These symptoms suggest that Stidi hs problems with the middle ear (infection, inflammation, polyp, tumour) or it may be related to brain disfunction (blood clot within the brain, ruptured vessel in the brain, tumor). Please, take Stidi to your local vets as soon as possible. If the symptoms are due to middle ear problem, he will need a course of strong anti-inflammatory medications and possibly antibiotics to get better.

It is quite possible he has suffered a head or high spinal injury but a 'broken neck' is unlikely given the fact he is mobile and able to move. The clear blood results are positive and although an MRI or CT scan may provide additional information, if he is eating, mobile and able to toilet normally then rest and TLC may be enough to promote recovery. Hills make a specialist b/d diet may help with brain and neurological health and speed recovery, acupuncture may also be worth considering

If you are worried about her balance and the head tilt I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian. They will be able to take a full medical history and perform a thorough physical examination. They will be able to determine if your kitten has a neurological condition which could account for what you are seeing or if there is a possible ear infection or if what you are seeing is completely normal. In some instances they suggest further diagnostic tests such as X-rays or blood tests to investigate underlying causes. They will also be able to dispense any medications needed if there is an ear infection or any kind or if there is another treatable condition. Best of luck!

The signs you describe can be caused by an irregularity in the spine - this may cause the bones to compress the actual spinal cord, damaging the nerves that are responsible for controlling the back legs and tail. A veterinary neurologist would be able to further diagnose the condition and propose a treatment plan, your original vet may be able to recommend one. Head tilting and falling over is normally due to a disease that affects the nervous system, or the inner ear. This is often due to head trauma or an infection. In order to further diagnose the condition, a vet would need to evaluate Muffin. You can take Muffin to a private vet, but will have to pay for the visit. If you can't pay for the charge, then you can bring him to a local shelter like the humane society. They also have vets that can evaluate him and ensure the best course of treatment is done. Beast could be suffering from a metabolic disease like diabetes that can affect balance and neurologic function, for example. I recommend a full workup if this behavior continues, including blood work and potentially radiographs to look for signs of metabolic or neurologic disease, infection, or arthritis.
