My cat has severe hair loss and spreading skin blisters. What's wrong?

It does sound like you think he may be feeling sick as well so I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment so that he can be started on the right therapy. This may due to an extremely severe allergy, a burn injury (so the skin which has fallen off died) but it could also be infection (bacterial or viral) or mites. An immediate check up is absolutely needed as antibiotic treatment and pain relief medications will be needed. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The picture shows extensive hair loss and some scabs underneath. The most likely cause for this is fleas. I would suggest trying a flea product on Whiskey. Ensure you get a safe product, lots of grocery store flea products can be very toxic to cats, and dog flea products are very dangerous and can be fatal to cats. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Poor Molly, that looks uncomfortable. Molly may be having some type of allergic reaction that has become infected. Make sure you are using a good flea product, not just a cheap one from WalMart. If Molly will let you, you can try bathing her in a medicated shampoo that has Benzoyl Peroxide. If not, please have her seen by your veterinarian. She may need to be treated with a steroid injection &/or antibiotics to clear this up, or to get to the source of the irritation. Take care.

You need to take him to a bet asap!! His skin is terrible! It looks like it is infected with yeast, bacteria or mange mites, but i suspect it is a combo. It neefs treated with an antiparasite, antibiotics, medicated shampoo and antinflammatories. Do not attempt to treat at home, it is way beyond that.
