I have impetigo. Can my cat get this bacterial skin infection from me?

It is possible, but extremely rare that strep is passed from humans to cats. A cat that is very old, very young or immune compromised is more susceptible than a healthy adult cat. Antibiotics would be used in treatment after diagnosis by a veterinarian.

That being said, in order for it to infect humans, there needs to be some sort of skin compromise, such as a skin allergy or other skin problem that can invite a pseudomonas infection. I would say that pasturella is not a common bacteria we find in cats. However it is always possible that dogs and cats carry pasturella in there normal mouth and saliva. If you have an open wound and are exposed to pasturella it maybe possible you can get the infection. I do not think the cats previous ear infection is a cause of the infection. Hope that helps
