Why is my cat gagging, sometimes with foam, then acting lethargic?

Boots could have some foreign material (like grass) stuck in the back of his throat, or something like a polyp causing irritation. Feline asthma can also cause a cough that can sound similar to hairball. I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian - they may recommend chest x-rays and potentially sedation to take a good look in the back of his throat.

I strongly recommend getting your cat seen by your vet right away. Lethargy is a worrying sign after such an incident and she must continue to eat or she can develop liver disease in a matter of days. There may be more hair that cannot get back out or that may be causing an intestinal blockage. If this is the case, without treatment it can be life-threatening. Your vet will do an exam, x-rays, possibly lab work, and base don these results will be better able to tell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.

Comb him regularly as you are doing. This will remove a lot of the dead hair which otherwise your kitty would have to remove and then regurgitate as a hairball.Feed good quality food. Get some hairball remedy from a petshop and feed that according to the instructions. This should reduce the hair balls significantly. It is normal for cats to regurgitate hairballs when they are good groomers..

I would recommend using a product such as feline Laxatone which can be found online quite easily. Your cat Felix is nauseated and trying to vomit. If this has been going on for some time, or if he is very lethargic and not himself, he may be very seriously ill. I recommend a vet visit right away for blood work and X-rays of his belly to see what is making him sick, and if he needs emergency supportive care like surgery and IV fluids.

I think that it is time to take Antonio in to see a veterinarian. He might have eaten something else which is causing an obstruction in his intestines. It is rare, but there have been some cats that need medical (or even surgical) intervention for a very large hair ball. If he is lethargic, it is time for him to be seen. It sounds as Lucah is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
