My cat has Frontline Plus. Can I add a Seresto collar safely?

You can use Frontline plus while they have the Seresto collar but this should not be necessary as Seresto is good for at least 6 months. So I would not recommend applying an additional flea and tick preventive.

Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medication, so I would not put the Seresto collar on Willow just yet. Wait at least two weeks, then apply it. You can give her Capstar now. It’s a one time pill that starts killing fleas and is safe to give. I hope this helps!

It is ok to use Seresto along with other topical products, just not oral ones. In some pets there can be a little skin irritation, so watch out for that and notify your vet if this happens. Otherwise, you should be fine to go ahead with Seresto to see if this does the trick. I would also recommend using a flea fogger to treat your home, which can be found at your local Home Depot or Lowe's. If you still don't have good results with the Seresto collar, then I would wait at least 2 weeks and consider better products such as Simparica or Nexgard. The manufacturers state that they do not have data on using two or more flea products at the same time, hence they consider that as potentially dangerous. So, if Seresto is not working for Spike, you need to take it off and start giving Capstar (or any other new flea treatment) after 2-3 days.

Hello there! Once you remove the Seresto collar, you can safely use the Frontline Plus topical. You do not need to wait and you do not need to give Lucy a bath first with the Dawn dish soap. Great question!

Hello! You should be able to use both Frontline and either a Preventic or Seresto collar, but only one collar. There should not be any interactions between any of the medications. I think using two preventives for hiking in the northeastern US is an excellent idea to prevent ticks and tick borne disease. I would also recommend looking into getting Winston vaccinated for Lyme disease as an additional precaution. I hope this is helpful!
