My 3-year-old cat eats Friskies. Is it a healthy food choice?

Friskies is not the best choice for cat food and I usually reserve recommending this brand for sick patients that won't eat anything and need a little more enticing for the appetite. Friskies contains mostly biproducts in the ingredients but it is not going to put her life in danger. Friskies meets the AAFCO statement and all life stage requirements and the truth is, I've seen many cats on Friskies their entire life and they looked great. I do typically recommend Science Diet or Royal Canin as my first choice recommendations as I know that have quite a bit of research they have put into their diets and from personal experience I find that both are great diets. I would feed whichever brand your cat(s) prefer. Both diets do meet the minimum standards for nutrition and are fine as long as your cat doesn't have any health issues like urinary crystals or stones. You are providing them adequate nutrition and it is important they eat what they prefer and you can reasonably afford.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Runiyah. They will both be similar in quality as far as cat food. I would feed her whichever food that she likes better. You also want her to have a glossy coat on the food and no vomiting or diarrhea. I hope this information helps!

I think Friskies is the slightly better diet. You can also feed a combo of wet and dry, most cats enjoy some variety. You may also look at Purina, they produce a nice food and tend to be less expensive than some of the other foods. Please post again if you have any further questions!

Personally I have several patients that seem to do well on Fancy Feast. As long as he is maintaining a healthy weight and does not have other health concerns I think it would be fine to continue to offer canned Fancy Feast. The foods without gravy tend to be lower in carbohydrates which might be better nutrition for cats, but again if he seems to be somewhat picky and has been underweight in the past you may want to stick with what he likes. It also might be a good idea to double check with your vet and see if they have other recommendations.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Purina makes some very good foods for cats. Whiskas tends to be very fatty and not the healthiest food. You can ask your vet for the best food for Antonio and your other cats, that is available in your area. Best of luck with your little ones!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Baluu can definitely switch to adult food at this time. I have seen many healthy cats on Merrick and it appears to be a quality food. I also like and trust Purina as well (my own cat eats Purina). Fancy Feast is considered a slightly lower quality, but I have seen many cats do well on it. As with any diet switch, switch slowly over 3-5 days to prevent stomach upset. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Baluu!
