Will my cat forget me after a two-week vacation? How to prevent it?

A three month vacation sounds lovely! Caboodle won't forget you. When I moved to New Zealand years ago, I couldn't take my cats and dogs with me right away, and they had to come a few months later. They stayed with family, and they did not forget me. I'd bring Caboodle over to your friend's house for visits before you go so he gets used to the new environment. I hope this helps!

Yes, I have seen this happen a few times, though usually with time the cat will learn to love and trust the original owner again and have an equally strong bond. Nuba will remember you! Dogs have a very strong sense of smell, and your scent will be familiar to her when you come home. I'm sure she will be very happy to see you when you come home, have a safe trip :-)

Yes, cats miss their people. They never are like "oh whatever they're gone forever". They will look for their person or people for a long time and then just give up, however if that person comes back after a while, and be it years, they will recognize the person and be very happy. Cats will remember their people for life.

He will still like you, however I would suggest you have the pet sitter come every day and make sure that the pet sitter talks to your kitty and also give him some cuddles if he wants them. Zeke will miss you, but he will be very happy to see you when you get back.

Cats are very smart creatures, so I am confident they will figure it out. You can always lock them in at night before you go on your trip to see how they do. However, I doubt they will have any issues going in the litterbox since this is a natural instinct for them to do so. If you are overly concerned I would suggest using Catattract litter which acts to lure cats to their litter box. You can also place several Pheromone diffusers (i.e. Feliway) in the home to help Emma and housemate remain calm while you are away. Safe travels on your trip and best of luck with your two kitties.
