Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 9 days old | 1.5 lbs

I was petting my kitten and notice a bump it's firm and at the bottom of it there's blood (redness) should I be concerned?

It's a tick ! You need to remove it carefully in order to avoid leaving the tick's head in. Which is what would happen if you just pull it. You put some spirit on top of it and then with a pair of tweezers twist it to the right three times and to the left for three times, then pull gently.

The picture is a bit fuzzy when I zoom in, but that looks like a tick! Check for the tiny legs, which would be found just where it's protruding from the skin. If so, it should be removed by grasping it gently but firmly where it's attached to Ramoji and pulling it out.
