My cat has a fever, is sleeping more, and not eating. Is it allergies?

I strongly recommend getting your cat seen by your vet as soon as possible. Cats can sometimes get fevers with no known origin and it makes them not want to eat. A cat cannot go more than a couple days without eating before they develop liver damage. Your cat may need fluids and supportive care in order to lower his temperature back to normal and support him until his appetite returns.

Fever in cats usually indicates there is an infection present. Cats also can get fever from a flea parasite called Mycoplasma, which is treated with an antibiotic. There isn't anything you can do for either of these scenarios at home unfortunately. A vet visit is required to treat for these and hopefully get Snow back to normal. I would ask friends and family if they can assist you with getting Snow to the vet for further care. The temperature itself isn’t an emergency, but it is definitely a fever. If he goes outdoors I would start feeling all over for an abscess from a fight. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon, but as long as there are no other clinical signs such as difficulty breathing etc then I think having him seen by your veterinarian tomorrow is appropriate. The most common cause for an excessively teary eye is a viral upper respiratory tract infection and they can cause a fever. A fever can cause lethargy and not wanting to eat. Other possibilities are an injury to the eye that is painful. Since he isn't eating and lethargic he needs to be examined by a Vet. Cats shouldn't go longer than 2-3 days with out eating as they can get very sick from a secondary liver problem. I wish Allie a speedy recovery!

These are very concerning symptoms, and could fit several serious issues, such as GI obstruction, internal bleeding, infection, cancer, etc. I would recommend having Lily examined by a vet. After physical examination, the vet may recommend diagnostics such as blood work or x-rays to determine the best possible treatment.

Although uncommon, cetirizine can cause sedation, lethargy, and lack of appetition animals. Please call your vet and discuss the clinical signs that he is experiencing. Your vet may want to switch medications or might want to see your cat to make sure there isn't something else causing the problem.

If smudge is not eating or drinking I strongly recommend a visit to the veterinarian. He may have an upper respiratory infection or virus, which can cause fever, lethargy and decrease in eating.
