My cat has a facial bump after an accident. Will it heal on its own?

Cute kitty. Any swelling on the body that does not go away within a few weeks, that is somewhat soft and not causing any pain, is likely a hematoma. Hematoma's come from trauma that has burst a blood vessel underneath the skin. It can take 1-3 weeks for the blood to then be slowly absorbed back into the body. If this is a hematoma, it should go down slowly. If it happens to not go away, then yes it is best to have your vet take a look at it for other possibilities (i..e cyst, abscess, etc). Thanks for including the picture of Simba and his bump. He is a handsome boy! It's possible that he scratched that area leading to trauma to the skin and the swelling. If there are other cats in the home or he's allowed outside, it could be caused by a fight with another animal. I would clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, and then monitor it. Should it get bigger or not go away, I would have Simba seen by a vet.

Without being able to examine Willow, it is hard to say what it is or if you should be worried about it. In a young kitten, trauma would be the most likely. However, a small bump could also indicate infection or even a small tumor. I would continue to observe Willow for a day or two. If the bump goes away, then I wouldn't be worried, but if it is still there, growing, or she is developing other symptoms, then she should be examined by a veterinarian.

That will depend on the underlying cause of the bump. Something like a swelling from an insect bite will go away. Other possible causes for a bump would include an abscess (pocket of infection) or a tumor (these can be benign and not cause any problems or malignant and require removal. If the bump is still present in a few days, a vet exam is recommended to determine the cause, or if it increases in size or starts to become painful.

If the swelling is warm to the touch and slightly depressible, then this is most likely an abscess (pus filled pocket) which is caused by some kind of trauma or puncture to the skin. This is a very common occurrence in cats that are outside or go outside for a brief period of time. To treat this you will need the help of your veteran veterinarian, who can drain the abscess and flush out all of the bacteria, and then put Dusty on a short course of oral antibiotics. Ask your veterinarian about an injectable antibiotic called Convenia, which they can give right there at the hospital. This antibiotic is favored by cat owners because it requires no medication giving at home and lasts for 2 weeks with just a 1-time injection by your vet.

Oh no, poor kitty! If he does play rough with your dog, it could be that he was injured during this rough play leading to the hard bump. It could also be due to a cyst, and abscess, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. Any suspicious bumps should be examined by the vet. The vet may perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the bump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have him seen by a vet tomorrow to have this bump examined and diagnosed so it can be treated as needed.
