Why is my 5-year-old cat eating more, vomiting, and losing weight?

Hello, I am sorry to hear about Romeo. Vomiting in cats can be caused by many different underlying conditions. Some cats do experience dietary allergies, so changing his food was a good idea. If this has not led to any improvement I would recommend having Romeo evaluated by a veterinarian. Other causes of vomiting can include systemic problems such as kidney/liver disease or problems within the GI tract (including pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, etc). Your veterinarian can perform diagnostics such as bloodwork, abdominal x-rays, or possibly an abdominal ultrasound. This will help rule out some of the other potential conditions that I mentioned above. Hope this helps, good luck!

Morris needs to be examined by the veterinarian. It sounds like he has multiple issues and these can only be addressed by the veterinarian. He needs bloodwork to look for kidney disease, hyperthyroidism or cancer. It's possible he has a heart condition and dental disease as well. The drooling likely indicates tooth problems and this can indicate pain. Have him examined soon. Just like humans, if these conditions are diagnosed and treated earlier, they have a better prognosis. Hi there. There are many different medical issues that can cause older cats to be picky eaters, and have recurring vomiting issues and weight loss. Some common possibilities would include chronic pancreatitis or IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), hyperthyroidism, chronic kidney disease, or diabetes. I would recommend taking Riley to the vet for an exam. He/she can do blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what is causing these symptoms and get him started on appropriate treatment.

I would recommend taking Oliver Paul into for an exam by a veterinarian. They can do a full exam, and a geriatric blood work panel. They may also take his blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause weight loss in older kitties. It can also cause eye problems. Another common and treatable condition in older kitties is hyperthyroidism. They get benign (non-cancerous) tumors on their thyroid gland that causes them to produce too much hormone which up regulates their metabolism. They will eat a lot and continue to drop weight. Hello. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. So sorry Frank is having this issue. It sounds pretty serious. There are many things that could be going on with him. His symptoms are not specific for any one illness or disease process. All the symptoms don't seem to go together either: increased appetite but drooling and weight loss..... seems odd. Some of the things that come to mind that would be at the top of my list would be: * dental issue (ie: infected tooth, oral tumor) * kidney failure * poisoning/toxicity * liver failure * thyroid disease * cancer I suggest you get Frank to your vet for an exam and some blood testing to start with. Many of the issues I listed above can be ruled in/out with simple blood testing. This is not something that is going to resolve on it's own at home. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
