My cat's ear is bent, warm, and he's scratching. Should I take him to vet?

The scratch on Cat Stevens doesn't look to bad. If he is scratching then I recommend an elizabethan collar so he doesn't scratch at it. If it is worse then it was a week ago, starts to swell, extends down into the ear canal or has discharge then I recommend bringing him to a veterinarian for evaluation. The scratch can be cleaned with salt water twice daily (10 teaspoons of salt in liter if water) or diluted betadine or hibiscrub solution. A buster collar should be ideally placed if possible to avoid further scratches.

Poor Beba! It could be she injured her ear, or she could be suffering from an ear infection causing her to scratch her ear a lot leading to the swelling. This could be an indication of infection (bacterial, fungal, mites). She would need to be physically examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. A swab of the ear can be examined under a microscope in the clinic to make the diagnosis. The appropriate medication or treatment can then be dispensed or administered. IN the meantime, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent excessive scratching or rubbing.

Hello! With out at least a picture of the bumps its hard to give you an idea of what may be going on. I can tell you that the most common reason cats scratch there ears is due to a mite infection. Another common problem are polyps in her ear, which are usually in the ear canal and can cause cats to scratch their ears. The bumps around the outside of her ears could be irritation from her scratching the area. Other considerations could be a primary dermatological problem and neoplasia. While age is certainly not a disease, neoplasia is more common in older pets and therefore has to be on the list. I do not think Spicy is any immediate danger. I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian as for an examination of her ears and possibly some tests of the skin around the ears. Hopefully this helps a bit!
