Cat has draining lump after flea treatment & seizures. What is it?

Yes, you can use A&D ointment but I would not be optimistic that it will do much. Her skin looks pretty painful and I think it would be best for you to get her some treatment from your vet. She probably needs some antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. There are MANY, MANY great flea treatments out there now. Flea sprays do not work well nor do they last very long. I don't think you should use that in the future. It is best to get a flea prevention from your vet. I am very worried about you saying that he seems to have "balls" associated with the back teats. That could be cancerous tumors. My recommendation is that you take Bubba for an exam. He really needs to be examined in person by a vet.

What has to happen for your dog to heal and for the lump to possibly go down, Is for the itch cycle and the inflammation to be stopped. A visit to the local veterinarian is a must in this situation because they will have strong prescription strength flea preventative as well as steroids that can be given to your dog to stop the fleas and therefore the dermatitis that’s associated with their biting. I urge you not to use any further over-the-counter flea preventative or skin medications without the approval from your veterinarian. This will only delay the healing and may exacerbate the problem. The lump should go down with time as long as the fleas are killed and the inflammation of the skin is controlled. But, if the lamp does not go away within the next two months, you may want to have your veterinarian take a biopsy of it just to see if it is indeed even related to the fleas. Does that make sense? This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you flea your cat regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy. Regarding the lump, it needs to be checked to make sure it's not a tumor, usually a simple FNA test can give some answers regarding the nature of the lump.

As for the fleas, top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the eggs hatch. If you are very worried, call your local SPCA to see if they offer low cost Veterinary Care. Ideally the abscess needs to be lanced (opened) to allow drainage. We can not recommend that you do this at home. If Bubba doesn't see a Vet the abscess will likely open at some point on it's own. Bite wounds and infections are painful. Sometimes cats feel very sick for a few days before the abscess ruptures because they tend to get a fever. I would just wash the area locally and not give him a full bath.
