I have an overweight cat that my vet suggested a diet for. I have been following the diet, however, she acts like she is starving and will break into the food bag and our dogs food bag and will eat anything she can get her paws on. Could there be something else wrong with her?

If Cutie is constantly hungry I recommend a vet visit to assess why. Parasites, medications and various metabolic disorders can cause cats to be ravenous. The vet determine what may be causing this and if it's truly abnormal. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Most commonly, this could be an indication of hyperthyroidism. This is where they produce too much thyroid hormones which makes them have a ravenous appetite. I would have your vet take a look at her and they will be able to determine if this is the cause or if something else is going on. I hope this helps!
