My cat died and I feel guilty. How can I deal with pet loss grief?

I just send about losing my cat that was my all and i can't live without him vet Daniel Fonza told me to check for grieving hotlines in algeria unfortunately we don't have any and i feel bad there's no one to cheer me up and i feel guilty because booboom spent his last hours at the vet clinic away from me and i think he hates me now bcz i was forcing him to take his medications and feed him by the syringe i feel terrible just wanna die

Hi, sorry to hear about your loss. I totally understand how lost you feel, I have been through the same a few times and recently I have lost my mum who was extremely precious to me.. I stayed by her side 21 days and when I left for one night she died in hospital on her own. I wonder if she was scared and frightened and I wasn’t there.. I would have never left her alone So imagine all this occurred 6 months ago and I still suffer a lot. I also feel bad for trying to make her move, as they advised me to do, because she was in pain and since she passed away probably didn’t need the extra aggravation.     Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am so sorry to hear that Boboom is no longer with you. It is such a tragedy and I'm sure him being gone has left a hole in your heart. I lost my dog last year and he was 20 years old and let me tell you, it was one of the hardest things to go through. I know Boboom was much younger but still, losing a loved one is never easy. You will get through this, it just takes time. Take time to mourn the loss of him and then get back up and be strong, Boboom would want you to. You can live without him and you did before he came into your life, you will move on and get through this. If you have any grieving hotlines in Algeria, I would look these up so that you can speak with someone or speak with family to help you get through this. Again, I am sorry you are going through this and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Please let me know if you need anything else and I can help you as best as I can.

Beethoven was a beautiful cat. I am so very sorry you lost him. It's hard but you eventually become accustomed to the difference and you'll remember the cute things he did and how much he loved you more than the pain of loss. I have been through it myself a number of times and will again, because I don't think I could ever be without a cat in my life. When you're ready, adopting another cat may help ease your sorrow and help you build new happy memories.

First off, I'm so sorry you lost Capser recently! How hard for you lose your beloved pet. I understand feeing guilty about it, and I recommend that you stop beating yourself up over it. Cats can be very stoic when they are ill, and oftentimes you don't notice they are ill until they are very ill. Beating yourself up over it will not change what has happened nor will it bring him back, so be kind to yourself. Mourn him and remember the good times that you had with Casper. Again, I'm sorry for your loss :-(

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Mattie. Losing a pet can be one of the hardest things to go through. There are a few things that may be able to help. Many veterinary clinics (and some local animal shelters) do offer grief counseling for the loss of a pet, as well as support and craft groups that allow owners to share their stories, and even create memorials for their pets. If that is not available, speaking with a counselor or therapist in your area may also help so that you do not have to go through this on your own. There are also resources online such at The Rainbow Bridge, where you can chat with and share stories with other owners which may help you to remember the good times you had with Mattie, instead of the sorrow over her loss. It sounds like Mattie was very loved and well cared for during her time with you, and she likely loved you just as much.

I am so very sorry that you lost Charlie. Every time I lose one of my kitties, I am devastated, so I can feel with you. I am sure it was not an easy decision, however ending his suffering was the best gift you could have given him. I am terribly sorry to hear about your loss, I can only imagine how heartbroken you are. I advise to neuter pets all the time, and it is the right decision to take because it saves them a lot of suffering as they get older. Don't blame it on yourself, you just chose the best for him and he knows it. Dogs are very very special and they sense everything, he knows he was very loved and that's why you all miss him so much. The pain will not go away, will change over the course of time. In my case spending time outside, walking, embracing my family helped me gradually feel better, which felt impossible in the beginning. I know it feels impossible now, but give yourself time. Sending you love from the other side of the world.
