Yes, this is the same as menadione. I would not be too concerned about this ingredient though. Menadione is simply a synthetic form of Vitamin K. As with many topics surrounding nutrition, there has been quite a bit of misinformation and hype about manadione and it's potential for toxicity. This ingredient is an essential nutrient that is put in pet foods at small amounts to ensure the food is nutritionally balanced and is not known to be toxic. It has been shown to be toxic in laboratory animals at extremely high doses (more than could ever be attained from eating the food), which is not very remarkable, because everything is toxic at some point. This ingredient has been put in pet foods for many years and there is no evidence to show that is has any negative effects in small amounts over long periods of time. The concern that it is toxic at the amounts in pet foods is unfounded. I personally have no qualms feeding this to my pets. Hello. There are 3 forms of Vit K. 2 are naturally occurring, the third ( this one ) is synthetic. It is added to feeds because Vit K is an essential nutrient used to prevent bleeding problems. It is approved to be used in many animal feeds & while there have been some internet chatter about this, there are no known adverse effects with the long term consumption of this vitamin. It is water soluble, so any excess is excreted from the body. The problem is, finding a food where the manufacturer does not add this. I personally, would not worry. I could not find any information on our veterinary information network that would suggest that Selenite in this product is causing any toxicity concerns in pets. There is some research ongoing in farm animals though. I would try Pet Poison Helpline to see if they have any current findings to help put your mind at ease. Their number is (855) 764-7661 However, this is a veterinary product that has been tested and deemed safe for animals, so I would be surprised if there are any negative connotations against it. The dose found in this medication likely is too low to be of toxicity concerns. Also medications don't cause stones, inability to metabolize food properly is the cause for stone formation in dogs. No , none of these ingredients are known toxins but it also depends what type of product was made of out them. Without knowing exactly what type of product your dog/horse ate it is impossible to be sure that they will be ok.

Good morning Ms Yeung! I would not give this supplement to Mochu if it contains D3. Too much vitamin D can be toxic to dogs, as it causes hypercalcemia (increased blood calcium) which can lead to kidney failure, haemorrhage, and tissue mineralization in the heart, liver and kidneys. She will be getting all the vitamin D she needs from her food, and too much will not be good for her. It's fine to give her Omega 3 supplements, but make sure they don't contain extra vitamin D. With the omega fatty acids, she can have 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined for every 30 pounds of body weight. I hope this helps :-)
