My cat has diarrhea after starting virus medication, is it normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 9 months old

My cat went to the vet and had a virus, nothing serious. It was prescribed to take 2 different tablets for 8 days. Before he started the treatment he had liquid feces looked like water, now no longer looks like water but continues with diarrhea. Go on the 3rd day that he is taking the medication, it is normal?

Some gastrointestinal conditions can take longer than 3 days to resolve so as long as Kiko is otherwise feeling ok i would advise to finish the course of treatment, if by then the diarrhea persists, take him back to the vet.
