My cat has diarrhea and won't eat after moving. What should I do now?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 5 lbs

My cat has diarrhea and isn’t eating all her food. We recently moved and she ate okay at first and then got picky. I changed food and she ate it all when I was there. Left for a work trip and cat sitter said she didn’t eat anything. She drinks fine but started to have diarrhea .

Diarrhea and inappentence can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I think that it is possible that her diarrhea could also be due to stress from the recent move or even a recent change in diet. I recommend that you have Bobbie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may choose to check for parasites and to start medications for diarrhea depending on the results. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

What to do if my cat has diarrhea, won't eat, but is drinking water?

It sounds as Bobo is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Diarrhea and a decrease in appetite could be a sign of a number of different problems. Intestinal parasites are possible, even for indoor cats, as are some infections or diseases like colitis or inflammatory bowel disease. If the diarrhea continues for more than 24 hours or seems to be getting worse, or if her appetite does not improve during that time I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian. They may treat her symptoms or recommend some testing like blood work or a fecal analysis depending on what they find during a physical examination.

It is a bit concerning that he's really not eating enough, and if he's had diarrhea for a few weeks, that would make him feel pretty awful and lead to a decrease in appetite. Given that the Metronidazole didn't fix the diarrhea and he's having a decrease in appetite, I think taking him into the vet again would be best. I'd have him seen today or tomorrow. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is somewhat expected to some extent though it is important to make sure she is drinking water so she does not get dehydrated. I would encourage her to drink and you may get more than 1 litter box to encourage her to use it. If she does not improve within 2-3 days, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment in case there is something else going on. Best of luck!

I would recommend having her re-examined and do further diagnostics like X-rays and blood work to determine why. If she is still eating and drinking and energetic, you could wait until Tuesday.
