My cat has a cut on its nose. Does it need a vet or will it heal?

Best would be if you could take Snowball to your vet for an exam. Without seeing even a photo of the lesion and how deep it is I am afraid I cannot tell you whether it will heal by itself. He may need some antibiotics to help it heal.

It is definitely possible that she cut herself on something. It almost appears that she may have a rub sore on her nose from rubbing her nose against something. It does not look infected so I would keep an eye on this and if it worsens, take Masha in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. Oh poor Stogie! If the bleeding has stopped and there is no swelling, I'd keep an eye on her for now. If you see swelling, the bleeding starts again, she stops eating, or becomes lethargic, then I would be worried and have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Even though a picture would help to understand better the severity of it, this cut could get infected (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching. From the pictures, it looks as though what you are seeing may be from trauma. Cat scratches to the face commonly occur on cats that are outdoor cats. Many times the hair will not grow back and the cat will be left with a small scar. If canto is indoor only and the nodule is raised, I would say get a vet to examine him to see for sure what it may be. It could be from a bug bite or a skin tumor of some type. If you cannot get to your vet right away, I would say just monitor for now and if it worsens get him seen sooner. It does not look infected or swollen from the picture. I would monitor for signs of infection which may include swelling, redness, painful to the touch, discharge, etc. I hope this helps! My concern is that it could also get infected. Try to keep the area as clean as possible and try to prevent her from scratching at it.
