My outdoor cat is coughing/wheezing; is it safe for me while pregnant?

I'm sorry Mago isn't feeling well at the moment! It's good that she has been eating and drinking normally, but it is concerning that she is coughing, throwing up mucus, and wheezing. Because her health is so important for her kittens, I would have her seen by a vet in the morning. The vet can prescribe medications if needed to treat her symptoms. I hope this helps!

Nothing can happen through the skin please don' t worry. However, you always need to wash your hands and wear gloves when you handle his litter tray or your clothes which have diarrhoea on it. Make sure the house is clean etc normal hygiene rules. I would recommend to have him checked over so his diarrhoea can be treated, and he can be neutered, wormed so that everything is in order for when the baby arrives.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Your Doctor can test you. If you are negative then you should avoid gardening or doing things with the soil as toxoplasma lives there as well. Then I would have your husband clean Cecile's litter box or you do it wearing gloves and wash your hands. I would also keep your cats indoors. Respiratory infections can be common in cats, and are frequently caused by viruses so antibiotics won't help. First, you can try starting them on an L-lysine supplement - this is an amino acid that has been shown to help the immune system fight off respiratory infections more effectively. Enisyl and Viralys are both good brands, and can be purchased over the counter without a prescription - just follow the dosing instructions on the label based on your cat's weight. If they are congested, you can also try using a humidifier or bringing them into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. Depending on their symptoms, a vet may be able to prescribe medications to help with them so a vet visit would be a good idea. I hope this helps!

Sneezing is not a pregnancy symptom in cats. Even though Meicoo does not have any visible nasal discharge, it is possible that she has an upper respiratory infection, nasal polyp or nasal irritation. That is difficult to say. We would have to have a diagnosis and its best that she is healthy and strong for the birth. She should be seen and also have her health checked just for being pregnant. If finances are tough, it would be best to get her spayed after she is done weaning the kittens.
