My cat's chin is still irritated and scabbed. What topical can I use?

Mia Rubi's chin looks like it definitely bothers her. I would actually recommend antibiotics to help with the infection. I would also recommend getting an elizabethan collar so she cannot scratch at her chin until it heals. I would definitely get a recheck with your veterinarian and see if they will treat Mia Rubi with oral medication. Her chin is getting worse from Mia Rubi scratching and rubbing it. Poor guy. You can try a very small amount of Neosporin on this wound and clean it daily with sterile saline. However, if it doesn't heal well then a trip to your vet for antibiotics is needed. Poor cat. This looks wide enough where it should at the very least get a topical treatment. You can try an over the counter antibitoic ointment or spray from your local pet store. Ask a store representative as to what is available in your area. You should also clean this area with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to help keep bacteria and infection at bay. That depends on how long she has had that scab. It takes 10-14 days for most wounds to heal. If the scab has been there longer, it may not be related to fleas. This is likely a small bug bite or an inflammatory reaction to some type of trauma (puncture, scratch, abrasion) to the skin. You can try cleaning it with a small amount of Betadine diluted 50:50with warm water, letting it air dry, and then applying a thin layer of Neosporin to the area twice a day to see if this can start to heal over the next few days.. Also an e-collar purchased from your local pet store can be placed on Simba to prevent her from scratching this area and causing more irritation as well as delaying the healing process. If this doesn't help then its best to see your vet to have this area investigated closely and in person. The vet may also want to shave the hair around it to get a better view and prescribe topical pet friendly antibiotics to help this heal. Poor Rb. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it.

You can clean the area with hydrogen peroxide. I would then take a hot wet washcloth and massage the area. The heat and massage will improve the blood supply to the area so it will heal more quickly. If there is a pocket of puss the goal is to get the scab off so the infection can drain. If there is an open wound then I would apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it afterwards. If she becomes lethargic and not eating then I would bring her in for an exam as she may have a fever and need antibiotics.
