What's this raw, bald spot on my cat's chin? How do I treat it?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 lbs

I was just petting my cat, and I saw a little bald spot on his chin. It seemed like it was a burn or a blister with bald skin around it and a raw spot on top. He’s never had an issue like this before. He’s normal in every other way (except for the fact that he’s weird). He doesn’t seem to have any “bald spots” other tjan that. What could that be? How do I treat it? Also, sorry that it looks like I’m forcing my cat. He disagreed.

This looks like an infected scratch or bite. I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide twice daily and you can apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. This should improve daily and should be healed in a week or so. If this isn’t healing then please have it examined. He may need oral antibiotics to fight the infection.
