It is normal to have vaginal bleeding after giving birth. After 48 hours the flow should slow down and small amounts of bleeding is normal. If the bleeding, even if small amounts, is still occurring after a week or it stops then restarts that is abnormal. Excessive bleeding requires immediate veterinary care. Excessive bleeding with a bad odor may indicate an infection or retained kitten.
