My cat has black watery stool after bacterial infection. Is it normal?

Hello. It is very common for some antibiotics to discolor the stool. As long as he is eating & feeling well, I would not be too concerned. You might call your vet tomorrow & just make sure this is a possible side effect from the medication that was prescribed, but I would not be too worried. Hello, sorry to hear about Odin. It looks like he has a severe infection, however I cannot tell you based on those results where. With he signs you are seeing, I would worry that he could have a kidney infection or a GI ulcer or even a GI perforation. Particularly the tarry stools make me concern that he could have an upper GI bleed from an ulcer or perforation. I would actually recommend having him evaluated now or as soon as possible by an emergency or your primary veterinarian. It sounds like he may actually require to be hospitalized and be treated aggressively with medical management. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Black stool is concerning as that may indicate a bleed in the upper GI tract such as the stomach. If he is also vomiting and has had this ongoing for several days it would be best to seek out veterinary care in person ASAP.

There are a number of concerns here but the development of blacker stools can be indicative of internal bleeding and requires urgent veterinary assessment and a check up of kidney function and dental health (swallowed blood can be detected in stools). It sounds like she has also suffered from colitis and/or pancreatitis (soft, slimey, malodorous) in the past and diet change to a high fiber, low fat complete food may help depending on the findings of her physical exam and blood/urine tests

Black, tarry stools usually indicates bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Potentially, she could have a retained fetus, which could be causing internal damage. Black or tarry stool is a serious and concerning symptom that can sometimes indicate a bleed in the stomach or upper GI tract. If Rowan continues to act oddly, has additional dark or tarry stool, or shows new symptoms of illness, seeking veterinary care in person ASAP is best.

Pale, white, or gray stools may be indicators of liver disease or intestinal bacterial infections. You may want to take a stool sample as well as your cat, if the stool does not normalize over the next few days or of your kitty appears ill. The vet may want to do blood work to make sure the liver is functioning properly. If so then it is likely that your kitty has an intestinal infection that will require antibiotics to clear up.
