My kitten has black spots on her mouth. What is it and how to treat?

Poor Mabel. This could be several different things like ringworm, a bacterial infection, a viral infection, mange, an immune reaction and more. I would have your vet take a look at her to see what it may be. They will be able to get her started on the proper meds to help it heal. They may also recommend to have her tested for feline leukemia and feline aids. If she is positive for one of these things, it is good to know. These are not something that she needs to be euthanized for but it is a good thing to know so you know to keep her indoors and away from other cats if possible. It also means her immune system may not be as strong as a normal cats so she may needed to be treated differently or with something stronger. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon!

I am sorry to hear about your kitten. It looks like she could have an infection of the skin around her mouth, such as perioral dermatitis. This requires treatment wtih antibiotics. I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian who can then prescribe medication to treat this condition.

I would recommend taking Snow White to a veterinarian. This can be anything from a bacterial infection to a fungal infection (like ringworm). They can take a woods lamp (it is like a black light) to see if it glows green. If it does it is ringworm, if it does not it still could be. Only 50% of all ringworm shows up positive with this test. A lesion like that could be a bacterial infection or ringworm (which humans can get). Your best option is to have Mocha examined and tested for ringworm. Make sure to protect the area from rubbing and scratching and she should wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Hello and thank you for your questions about Dark and Takuma. The main things I would be concerned with are ringworm, mites and bacteria. Ringworm is a fungus that is contagious to humans and other animals. It spreads by spores being attached to shedding hair. Environmental cleanup is a huge component and I would recommend to isolate the cats to one area of the house and clean all the areas they have been around. Normal vacuuming, sweeping and mopping with a routine cleaning product should be fine. I don’t generally recommend at home treatments as it can be ineffective and ingestion could be toxic. I would recommend to take them to your local veterinarian who will likely recommend a regiment of medicated dips that are safe for cats or possibly oral treatment. Bacteria and mites are not generally contagious to humans but you should use normal hygiene practices when touching those areas. Mites require special treatment with topical medication and the bacteria may require antibiotics. Since both cats have it, I would recommend to take them to the vet sooner rather than later! It looks like she has a dermatitis on her face. The best thing would be to have her examined and treated by a vet. She may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and/or other medications to treat the dermatitis. Also, make sure to clean her food bowls thoroughly and use stainless steel or ceramic bowls as some cats can be allergic to plastic bowls and plastic can harbor bacteria more easily.

This does not look very concerning and it certainly would not be necessary to postpone her spay. Observe the lesion for spread. Let the vet know about it and have him check it for ringworm or a bacterial skin infection. If it is bacterial it is easily treated with antibiotics and if it is ringworm she will need antifungal medication. It also just may be a scrape that is healing now.
