My cat ate lipgloss and is vomiting. Is this why? What to do?

I recommend withholding food for tonight, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Oh dear, poor Brandy! It is possible that she is experiencing some gastroenteritis from even a small amount of cookie dough. You can try to withhold food for the next 12-24 hours, then offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken for a few days. Once the vomiting subsides, gradually mix her normal food with the bland diet over another 5-7 days. However, if Brandy continues to vomit, develops diarrhea, lethargy, or refuses to eat the bland diet, she will need to go to her vet. She may need IV fluids and medications to help slow her vomiting. Oh no it's not good that Kitty ate that vomit! At most, I would expect that eating this vomit could cause some GI upset, causing her to vomit and/or have diarrhea. It's good that it doesn't look like she has eaten the plastic bag, and if she ate the bag, I would be concerned that the bag could cause a foreign body obstruction. Keep an eye on her for now, and if you see any vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. It's not possible to say exactly what is causing this, but what you are describing is typical for a cat that is nauseous. One possibility is that he ate something he was not supposed to like medication, a chemical (i.e. antifreeze), or a plant (i.e. lilies). Vomiting is often the first signs of an exposure to a toxin, so I recommend checking if it's possible for him to have eaten anything other than his normal diet. Vomiting and nausea can also be due to an infectious disease, organ failure, or imbalance in the blood. In order to narrow down the possibilities, you would have to take Tobias to the vet for an evaluation. This doesn't appear to be an emergency, but if Tobias is acting very depressed and is vomiting continuously, then it would be best to take him to the vet sooner rather than later. If he is otherwise acting normal, then it's important to not give him any food for the next eight hours, but make sure he has plenty of clean water available. If he's not vomiting in eight hours, then only feed him a small amount of food (about 1Tbsp.). If he keeps that down, then you can feed a little more in two hours. If the vomiting is continuing tomorrow, then it's best to take him to the vet for an evaluation. I hope that helps and Tobias gets better soon.
