My cat ate hair ties. What signs of obstruction should I watch for?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old

I am scared that my cat has ingested hair ties. He is eating normally but has started sleeping in the bathroom at night. I have been unable to find the hair ties and I am scared he has eaten them. Is there anything specific that I should be looking for?

You should be looking for vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and anorexia. Those are signs of a foreign body ingestion causing an obstruction. You can also take PJ into a vet now to get x-rays to look for them. Best of luck.
