My cat ate fruitcake with raisins and vomited. Will he be okay?

Yes, Bits should be ok if she vomited everything up. I would just keep a close eye on her today to be safe. If she keeps vomiting, stops eating, vomits her food, stops drinking water, vomits water, or becomes very lethargic, she is not ok and she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Since he is uncomfortable and unwilling to eat, I think it would be a good idea to get him seen as soon as possible. Oils from fir trees can irritate the inside of their mouths, causing drooling and vomiting and ingested pine needles can collect together creating an intestinal obstruction or potentially puncture the intestine, leading to a painful condition called peritonitis. I feel it would be best to get him seen in case he gets worse or perhaps ate something else you weren't aware of. As you probably know, cats cannot go for long without eating before developing hepatic lipidosis, or fatty liver disease. Your vet will do an exam, possibly x-rays and labwork, and based on these results, will be better able to tell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.

At worst, you may see some stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea). Either can usually be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. Monitor for lethargy, persistent stomach upset, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

Once he threw up the balloon and the entire length of string, he should be fine. The offending foreign body has left his gastrointestinal system. However you should really check your house for any more items like that including string, as a linear foreign body (string causing an intestinal blockage) is a serious problem and would need surgery to remove. So since your kitty regurgitated the entire string and balloon he should be okay.

Oh no it's not good that Kitty ate that vomit! At most, I would expect that eating this vomit could cause some GI upset, causing her to vomit and/or have diarrhea. It's good that it doesn't look like she has eaten the plastic bag, and if she ate the bag, I would be concerned that the bag could cause a foreign body obstruction. Keep an eye on her for now, and if you see any vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. The vomiting could be from residual irritation from the ribbon or there could be more ribbon that is causing an obstruction. It is also possible it is completely unrelated to the ribbon in general: intestinal parasites, hair ball, ate something else gross (plant, etc), pancreatitis, food allergy/intolerance, reaction to a new food/treat/table food. You can continue to watch him but if he continues to vomit or stops eating that is an emergency and he needs to see a vet for an exam and an X-ray to check for a blockage. I wish you the best!

Please, offer Oreo some bland food (a piece of cooked lean meat would be the best) and see if he keeps it down. If he does, you can offer him more of this food in 2-3 hrs. If he is eating and not vomiting, you can feed him small portions every 4-6 hrs for 24hrs and then go back to his regular food. However, if he continues to vomit and refuses to eat at all, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.
