Is my cat okay alone for long hours, or should I get another?

I would not recommend doing this with a kitten but an adult cat you can. It sounds like you would be a great home for an older cat. There are many, many older cats in shelters that need homes. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think it might be best to hold off on getting a cat until your job changes and you are home more. I wouldn't suggest leaving any animal for that many days every week. There would be lack of bonding and what if the cat gets sick while you are away. You would have to pay someone every week to come daily to feed the cat and clean the litter box. Personally I recommend waiting. I wish you the best!

Yes, they can. Cats are quite independent and can look after themselves quite well. Access to an outdoor space would be ideal. If you have enough space taking two cats (take them when they are kittens) could be a good option.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cats are finicky creatures. Cats tend to only like the cats they know. Even though your cat seems to like the ones she lives with doesn't mean she will like a new cat. Cats are territorial and like their own personal space. I would first allow your cat to get used to your new house with your boyfriend. See how is goes over several months. She will be stressed for a while just because of the move. Then see how she is once she is settled. If you want to get another cat for company consider it in a few months. Good luck!

There is not a problem with spending all day at home as long as the kitty is being taken care of meaning that is fed good food and given water and that he is provided with preventative care like vaccines and deworming and they also interact with her regularly.
