Have DoReMi examined by your veterinarian. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites which can affect weight and weight gain. Blood work may diagnose metabolic conditions or endocrine imbalances as well. Your vet can teach you how to assess your cat's Body Condition Score (BCS). I would first want to rule-out a disease, or parasite causing him to lose or not gain weight. If the vet was not concerned about a possible medical issue, then I would not be overly concerned about her being a little skinny. The truth is that a score of four is not bad and lean cats are statistically healthier and live longer than overweight cats. Some cats (much like people) are able to naturally maintain a lean body condition. I suspect Choo Choo is one of those cats, but would urge you to discuss this with your vet before making any changes to his diet. He looks a bit skinny, but it is difficult to determine from an image alone. An adult indoor cat should weigh between 8 and 10 pounds. It should have a layer of fat over the ribs, but you should be able to easily feel them. The hips should not be too prominent or "bony" and he should have a waist when looked at from above. You should bring him to your veterinary clinic to weigh him. They should allow you to do this for free. You could also buy. A small scale. Most are less than $30. Place him in a carrier or basket and weigh him, then weigh the container andbsubstract it from the total weight.

If he is skinny then I would be sure he has been properly dewormed. It would be best to have his stool tested. If he is older then a physical exam and blood work may be warranted. He looks to be appropriate weight based on the photo. Just feel him all over and as long as he doesn't have a protruding spine or protruding ribs, then he is appropriate weight.
