Why is my Quaker parrot rubbing eyes, losing feathers, and flying poorly?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My Quaker Parrot is rubbing her eyes on our lamp shade and bulb when its on. She is now losing her feathers around her eyes and isn't flying good. She is now flying into stuff. She isn't eating good or bathing.

Hello. So sorry to hear that your parrot is having this issue. I strongly suggest you get her to an avian veterinarian for an examination. It sounds like she is having some issues seeing - she may be going blind. You need to have her vision checked with a vet this is competent with working on birds. If you don't have one you use currently, I found this one online in your area.

Hope this helps. Best wishes.
