My parrotlet bites in the morning. Why is he sweet later in the day?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parrot | Male

Whenever I go to feed my parrotlet in the morning he bites me super hard the second I put my hand in his cage. Then in the afternoon if I put my finger near him he will hop onto it and be super sweet and wont even try to bite me.

He may simply be excited to see you, or startled, after a night in his cage.
In the mornings, approach slowly and make sure he knows you are in the room. Give him an hour or so to "wake up" before reaching in to him. Go in with a treat and after that so he doesn't go for your finger.
