My parrot has eye and neck mucus discharge. Is it serious? What to do?

I am sorry he does not feel well. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian because birds can get sinus infection and upper respiratory infections. It is always best to have a bird looked at if possibly sick. Hope that helps!!

Unfortunately, if the eye is infected it needs to be seen in person by a vet (even if it isn't an avian-specific vet) in order for medication to be prescribed. Keeping Karo separated in a warm hospital cage with easy access to food and water, and continuing to remove any debris from the eye can help until you can find a vet near you.

The discoloration around the eye is probably from the excessive tearing. Since you are unable to take him to the vet try flushing the eye with a sterile saline solution and using a humidifier in the room to help in case it is allergies. Best of luck.
