My parakeet has a protruding growth on its beak. What should I do?

Some infections such as fungal infections can cause flaky growths around the beak or nose. Growths on the skin from infection, tumors, parasites, etc may also cause a dirty growth appearance anywhere on the body. Regurgitation of food may also cause stuck debris, as well as problems with the crop causing food or bacterial to come back up into the mouth. Unfortunately from your photos I can't tell very clearly what is going on with the beak. If the beaks are overgrowing or impeding the chicks' ability to eat or drink, then I would have a vet take a look and trim the beaks down so that they can grow back into a more normal shape. If there is a growth, swelling, or discharge, it could indicate an issue such as an infection or underlying problem which should be treated by a vet. If the babies are otherwise healthy, eating, growing and there is no discharge, etc, then just keeping an eye on the beaks may be fine, but if they continue to grow oddly or become problemsome to your birds, having a vet look is always best.

Have your veterinarian examine KuKu. A fine needle aspirate of the growth can be done to collect a sample for pathology. Your vet can consult with an avian specialist by phone if necessary. Since the mass is growing, it should be addressed before it begins to interfere with eating and drinking.

Oh goodness. Poor little Guy. Unfortunately the pictures are too blurry to really visualize the lesion. I would worry about infection or possible self trauma.
