Is my parakeet egg bound? When should I take her to the vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | 1 year and 1 month old

Egg Bound? I have a linolated parakeet that has been hanging out in her sleeping hut for the last 2 days,. Today is day 3 and she hasn't come out only to eat and drink. I'm sure she wants to lay an egg. Her butt is pulsing. How long do I wait before getting her some help.

I think a 3-day wait is long enough. If no eggs have been produced by tonight you need to seek the assistance of an avian veterinarian. Sunny may very well be egg bound. Your vet can make the diagnosis and provide the appropriate treatment.
