Hi. I'm sorry Paco isn't feeling well. Hiding their beak in thier feathers and sleeping a lot is definitely a sign of a sick bird. Because birds are prey species they often hide signs of illness for a long time before it's noticeable. Make sure Paco is in a warm, quiet, draft free area so as not to stress him more. I would find an avian veterinarian to take him to immediately. If he's swollen he may have fluid buildup, a tumor or other internal disease going on. Sick, stressed birds can die very easily unfortunately so be as gentle and stress free with handling and transport as possible. Until you get him seen, keep him in a warm quiet location and try to tempt him to eat- either his regular diet or pieces of rice or pasta, fresh fruit or veggies. Good luck to you and Paco.

Tail bobbing is sometimes a clinical sign of difficulty breathing, possible coelomic fluid (ascites) or a respiratory disease. It would probably be a good idea to see an avian veterinarian. Lethargy and sleeping during the day (to conserve energy) are clinical signs of being sick, the question is why. Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give some support. Monitor fecal production by a total cage clean-out. Sick birds often act like they're eating but aren't. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Multiple possibilities include ingestion of foreign material (metal, fabric, wood, etc.), metabolic concerns (liver, renal), infections (viral, bacterial) and others. Good luck.

But they usually do not decrease eating, as calories needed to make heat. A darker green stool is often a sign of decreased appetite, increased white and clear urine is increased drinking. Millet is a poor diet as devoid of many vitamins and minerals and is basically the equivalence of potato chips. A wide variety of vegetables is needed, a plant based protein source (beans, legumes, tofu) and avian pellets are recommended. As he is likely ill, a veterinary visit is highly recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Provide heat support 24/7. Good luck.

Unfortunately, loss of appetite and lethargy are both very vague, general signs of illness. Issues such as infections, parasites, illness, nutritional issues, etc can all be potential causes. It would be best to keep Kiwi in a warm hospital cage with easy access to food and water to help him remain comfortable, and to schedule a vet visit in person if his symptoms continue so that the causes can be narrowed down and treated.
