How to help my male budgie cope after rehoming an aggressive female?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | unneutered | 9 months and 29 days old

We bought a brother budgie for quiz we recently found out that the new budgie is a girl. We thought they might still get along but she keeps chasing him away and biting him, she is also a very bitey bird and we can't seem to tame her. We're going to sell her to someone who can hopefully get her a bigger cage or find a way to tame her as we can't. How can I help my old budgie cope with this? I suspect he will miss her because they still talked to each other every day. They're cages are close.

So sorry to hear things are not working out. I think this article will help you more than what I can write in this small space. I hope this helps. If you have more questions you are always welcome to post again. Best wishes.
