My new male and female birds won't bond. Why is he biting her?

Without knowing how long ago you introduced the birds, it could be hard to say. It may be that the two need more time to bond and get to know each other, before they accept each other. Offering toys that both can interact with together may help them bond. Making sure everyone has access to food, water, and perching space without competition can also help reduce stress and fighting over resources, which can help your birds get along better.

Many species of parrot are monomorphic, meaning you can not visually determine sex, and a blood sample needs to be taken. Unfortunately this can not be answered as the behavior of individuals are different. Sometimes they pair quickly and occasionally not at all. In the wild, they pick their own mates, they are not picked for them. Squabbling is normal, as they establish hierarchy and territory. Breeding season is usually in the spring, so be patient.

This can happen with an inexperienced pair. Give them time and they will get it right. Be sure to provide an adequate nesting box as well as a fortified diet (a commercial pelleted mix and some seed) and calcium supplementation.

Thanks for reaching out about Peekaboo. Not all birds get along but can often be trained to get along. Suspect this is more dominance that anything else. Allow to interact in neutral territory so no one is defending their home territory. Allow to interact with plenty of feeding stations and for short periods of time, to get acclimated to each other.
