Is my lemon essential oil diffuser safe for my dog, hamster, and bird?

I recommend not using one, as hamsters can be sensitive to essential oils. You can see eye and nasal discharge, lethargy, and a loss of appetite. It's better to avoid it for Peaches' sake. I hope this helps!

I would avoid using essential oils directly on your dog as it could cause skin irritation, or be toxic, depending on the oil. If you use diffusers in your home, making sure Hudson is in a well-ventilated area away from it can help prevent inhalation that could cause irritation or illness.

Our pets are very sensitive to the chemicals in essential oils (think how much more sensitive their sense of smell is!), and exposure to diffused essential oils can be dangerous. Cats are particularly sensitive, but it's best to avoid diffusing oils around dogs as well. If you must use diffused oils, do so in an enclosed room and keep the pets out to minimize their exposure. I do not recommend the use of essential oils in the presence (ie the same room) of parakeets or any other birds. There are some oils that are toxic (such as tea tree oil) and others that may not be, however toxicity often depends on the concentration of the oil and while an oil may not causing toxic signs in one bird, it may in another more sensitive bird. There is no way to know other than trying it out, and , honestly, I would not risk my bird's health just to find out which oil does not harm him and which one does. If you use essential oils outside of Garcia's room, there should not be a problem.

None of these essential oils are toxic and the amount that would be inhaled through a room diffuser would be minimal. Keep in mind that dogs have a much better sense of smell than we do, and could get overwhelmed by a strong smell. You should make sure your dog can leave and go to another room if she wants to. I do not recommend using any essential oil topically or orally in pets.

Unfortunately almost all your essential oils there, with the exception of lavender, are toxic to dogs. Tea tree oil is especially toxic to dogs. I would ditch the oil diffuser all together. Best of luck.
