My conure is shaking, twitching, and not eating. Should I see a vet?

First of all, you should seek an appointment with an experienced avian veterinarian. Nutritional deficiencies (calcium, protein, vitamin A, etc.) are only one of the possibilities. Diseases that affect the kidneys or liver, affect how the body assimilated proteins, and therefore feather growth. Quivering and shaking could be signs of being cold, but also tremors such as mild seizures. Once, again, you would do best by seeing an avian veterinarian as soon as possible. Good luck.

Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range might give some aid. Lethargy could be an infection, metabolic disorder (liver, kidney), parasites (internal or external), and other causes. 3 hours without eating isn't a major concern, but if Pepper is continuing to worsen and isn't improving with home care, it sounds like she needs to be seen by a vet. Unfortunately, you already seem to be doing all of the at-home care that would help without further examination to determine what is going on with her. If she just laid the eggs, that is a stressor on the body so she could just be quiet and recovering from that, however if she doesn't perk back up, or seems to worsen, then trying to find a vet near you is best, even if they don't specifically see birds.

Check and correct diet, as an all seed diet is not sufficient for proper health. Vitamins, mineral and proteins are also needed. This could be a toxin ingestion (lead, zinc, plant), metabolic concern (liver, kidney), neoplasia (pineal tumors are fairly common in budgies), just to mention a few potentials. I highly recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check on what may be wrong so that therapy can be started as soon as possible. I am hoping for a speedy recovery!
