My cockatiel is still itchy after vet. What home remedies can I try?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Cockatiel | Male

My cockatiel is itchy I’ve took him to the vet 2 times to treat him but it seems that he is not recovering. There is only one vet in my country that treats birds. Is there anything else that I can do to help my pet?

Clean and sanitize the cage, bowls, toys and perches. Discard anything that cannot be sanitized. Use ain paper on the cage bottom and change it daily or more frequently if needed. Bathe or mist Ashy in warm water to promote preening and healthy plumage. Without a firm diagnosis of the underlying cause, it is difficult to provide more specific advice. Potential causes include infection (bacterial, fungal, viral or parasites), boredom, stress/anxiety or even malnutrition.
