Lovebirds laid eggs: When can I clean their cage without disturbing them?

It is normal for the adult birds to press their stool up against the sides of the nest as they rear young, thus making the nest a bit "dirty". I would leave the parents to care for the babies without disturbing them as long as they seem healthy, alert, and are growing. Once the babies start to leave the nest more on their own, you can then clean out the nest as needed, and should clean it between every clutch as well. If the nest is extremely dirty or becoming dangerous, you can attempt to move the babies carefully to a new one (and then place it in the same area), but I would not do this unless it is absolutely necessary.

If she is going into and out of the nest box, and has laid egg in the box, she is probably comfortable with the size, as long as it is large enough to rear the young. It may be that the egg was actually pushed out of the box as it is not viable. If they will not let you in the box (where there may be other eggs), or the egg is not viable, you can simply remove it. Otherwise, waiting until night when both birds are calmer and quiet may give you a chance to place the egg into the nest.

Birds are naturally messy by nature and will poop in food and water dishes if not appropriately covered or protected. Switching to a dish that limits how much water is available at once (to avoid all of it becoming contaminated) or adding in a bath that the birds can bathe in (and will probably poop in) in addition to their water can help keep it cleaner. Parakeet eggs take about 17-20 days to hatch if properly incubated. They will also change from a translucent to a more opaque white as they mature.

As long as the parents are caring for the babies, I would leave them to do their own thing. I wouldn't move or touch the nest while the babies are still young. Once they're a bit older and moving about, you can then clean the nest, or clean it in between clutches. Having baby bird food and a syringe on hand is always a good idea in case you need to step in, notice they aren't thriving or growing well, or the parents aren't caring for them.

Typical clutch size for lovebirds is 4 to 6 eggs. The hen will lay one egg every 48 hours until the full clutch is laid. The incubation period is 21 to 24 days. If you don't have a male lovebird, the eggs will be infertile. Remove them after 3-4 weeks or when the hen abandons the nest. Feed a fortified diet with extra calcium which can be depleted from egg laying.

It's possible that is the baby bird poop. Most often the parents will take care of cleaning and can do a sort of technique where they press the stool to the nest wall to keep it "cleaner". I wouldn't disturb the babies until they are actively coming out of the nest and exploring on their own, which you can then use to remove the nest and clean it safely without injury a baby.
