My new bird is sick, head tucked under wing. Does it need a vet?

I just got a bird but I don't know what kind he is. He's kinda small. He has had his face tucked into his wing and standing on 2 feet for a long time now and I don't now what's wrong. He must be sick. How can We make him better. And is it possible we don't have to go to a vet?

You bird is very sick, but i couldn't tell you what is wrong based on these very general symptoms, you will need to take him to an avian vet where a blood test and faecal exam will be done to determine what is the cause of the disease.

    Thanks for reaching out about Sky. It sounds as if he is very sick and needs to see a veterinarian. With being quiet/lethargic/sleeping, his is having a hard time hiding his illness, because it is advanced. A veterinary visit is recommended, tonight or tomorrow. Birds have few reserves. Providing supplemental heat in the 80-85 F can provide aid. This condition can occur due to metabolic disorders (liver, renal, pancreatic), infectious diseases, dietary deficiencies, and other problems. A veterinarian can help sort it out.
